Paragliding is one of the best ways to have a real adrenaline experience and enjoy the natural environment and landscapes of Zlatibor. It is one of the most popular extreme sports and represents paragliding, i.e. free flying with the help of a simple aircraft, similar to a parachute. Due to suitable terrain and suitable air currents, paragliding on Zlatibor has been expanding in recent years. The peaks of Čigota and Tornik are favorite airstrips for paragliders.
On Zlatibor, it is possible to fly a paraglider with the Paragliding Club "Avis" and a professional paragliding pilot, extreme and former Red Bull athlete, Petar Lončar, who is one of the most famous names in the world of paragliding. He has competed and honed his skills at world aerobatic championships and aero events, as well as expeditions and projects around the world:
- In 2019, Petar became the first person in the world to fly on all 7 CONTINENTS, thereby making history in paragliding. - In 2015, he set a NATIONAL RECORD by flying at a height of 6900m. - In 2013, in Bulgaria, by jumping from a plane at 4000m with his paraglider, he set the WORLD RECORD for the "Infinity Tumbling" figure with 181 turns in a row. - The personal record in flying a paraglider in the Himalayas in India is a flight of 185 km from the take-off point!"
Paragliding club "Avis" has been fostering this sport on Zlatibor for many years, organizing take-offs from nearby peaks, holding paragliding courses, tandem jumps, and they are also active in organizing open paragliding competitions.
